Problem addressed

As a staple and cash crop in Uganda, it is a source of livelihood for many households especially in Eastern and Northern Uganda. However, the widespread Cassava Mosaic Disease (CMD) and Cassava Brown Streak Disease (CBSD) caused low and unstable cassava yields over years. There was a need to develop cassava varieties that are resistant to the causal viruses, as use of chemical and cultural control methods was not economical.
